Trailer Released For New SUPERMAN: YEAR ONE Comic Series
Check out the release trailer for DC’s upcoming comic book series Superman: Year One. Created by writer Frank Miller (Dark Knight Returns) and artist John Romita Jr (Kick-Ass).
This new and exciting, three issue story line, will retell the origin story of Superman.
Here’s the synopsis:
“Superman: Year One is a coming-of-age story for the future Man of Steel, featuring a young alien-boy just trying to find his place in a new world. Faced with the need to hide his heritage and powers in order to survive, Clark will find his humanity through the grounding of the Kent family and the relationships that will define the man he will become. Told by two of the most revered voices in comics, Superman: Year One is more than a superhero story – it’s about the choices made by Clark Kent on his path to becoming a legend. It’s a testament to the importance of choosing to become a hero.”
I love what Miller did with Batman in The Dark Knight Returns, a comic book I would recommend as a must read! So it’ll be interesting to see what he does with Superman. The title already following the footsteps of his previous work, Batman: Year One
The first part to this new story will arrive this month, 19th June. Followed by issue No. 2 in August and No. 3 in October. Then all three issues will be released as a single volume in November.
In this post we look to shed some light on those who have helped create iconic characters, games and movies. People that are the very heart of modern day pop culture.
Phil Tippett is not a household name but you will know his work. The Oscar-winning stop-motion animator, and designer, is responsible for many fantasy creatures and sci-fi set pieces. Creating aliens that defined the diversity of Star Wars, to seamlessly merging practical animation and CGI in Jurassic Park. ‘My Life in Monsters’, chronicles Tippett’s legendary life work, his influence on pop-culture and is a must watch!
Tippett has returned to his origins and is currently involved with his ongoing “Mad God” animation series. You can help support his work through Kickstarter.
A promo poster for Star Wars: Episode IX has found its way onto the web. This must of been for internal use only and has somehow slipped out of Lucasfilms web of secrets. What is interesting is that the poster reveals a lot of what fans can expect from the last film in the trilogy. This is more than likely a mock up, so a lot of elements shown in this poster are subject to change.
Our Thoughts:
As you will see in the image, the poster shows our heroes in new outfits, with Rey (Daisy Ridley) wielding the Skywalker lightsaber that looks to of been repaired. We can see our favourite rebel starfighters flying off in various, unseen colour schemes; while a new variant on the TIE fighter has snuck in at the bottom. What has got a lot of people excited is that the Knights of Ren will finally be revealed, along with new elite red Stormtroopers. There are two mysterious new characters set to one side; the rebel fighter believed to be Lando’s (Billy Dee Williams) daughter and a bounty hunter, possibly Keri Russells character?
Kylo Ren has his helmet back, which has been repaired too. C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) holds Chewbaccas Bowcaster (god knows what is going on there). A new rumoured robot sidekick appears next to BB-8 and lastly a stupid looking slug like alien behind Finn (John Boyega).
Personally I am not a fan of the poster. There is too much going on. Streaks of light criss-crossing, going up and down, while flaring out in the background. It’s over-crowded and just looks like there’s no thought behind it. This doesn’t get me excited for the film but it does peak my interest.
What do you guys think? Star Wars: Episode IX is currently set to be released on December 19th, 2019.
Until then browse our store for Star Wars goodies, and may the force be with you.
The first full trailer for the final season of Game of Thrones gives us our first look at what is to come and hints at the final, epic battle. It is enough to get fans excited and sets a dark mood. Showcasing some of our favourite characters brooding as they approach the eventual showdown we have all been waiting for!
Game of Thrones season 8 will be 6 episodes long and is set to premiere on April 14th.

Peter Weller Reprises His Role of RoboCop in the unlikeliest way!
You’re probably wondering what this is about and it’s safe to say we’re not sure whats going on here either. News reached the internet last year that Director Neill Blomkamp is developing his next blockbuster, “RoboCop Returns”. A direct sequel movie to reboot a franchise that wasn’t so well received back in 2014. What is interesting about this new instalment is that the script was written years ago by RoboCop’s original screenwriters, Ed Neumeier and Michael Miner.
Many fans are wondering if Peter Weller will reprise his roll as Robocop and we are excited to inform you that… HE HAS! In a way most unexpected. I can’t even begin to tell you how bizarre this is! The Police cyborg is back in action as the Colonel, in a series of weird commercials for KFC.
I don’t understand it but I can’t look away! Nostalgia has a firm grip on me. The Secret Recipe one has to be my favourite. You can watch the five ads below and let us know what you think.

New Promo for DC’s upcoming “Elseworlds” Features Batwoman in Action
The upcoming, three-night special known as “Elseworlds” will span across CW’s main shows: Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl. In the lead up to this event we’ve seen photos, showing Arrow (Stephen Amell) and The Flash (Grant Gustin) switching roles. In the video below, one of two new promos, we see Batwoman (Ruby Rose) in action for the first time! I don’t know about you but I’m excited to see this character brought to life.
This crossover event will bring Green Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl to Gotham City where they will meet Lois Lane, Nora Fries (wife of villain Mr. Freeze) and introduce Rose as the fictional hero, Batwoman. What do you think of the teaser and does Rose fit the part?

Welcome to GeekVault’s The Predator review. Watch as The Predator returns in all it’s gory. Finally after eight long years The Predator has returned in a new movie, the fourth in the series, excluding the AVP movies. The last one being Predators from 2010, where several humans were dropped on a Yautja hunting planet. Predators generally received average reviews. However we found Predators rather enjoyable at the time. The Predator on the other hand is just awfully terrible. Anyway…
The Prey (No Spoilers)
The story is a pretty typical one. Predator crashes to Earth and is intercepted by Special Ops sniper, McKenna (Holbrook), after killing his men. They both survive the encounter and get picked up by the US government. The Predator wakes in a secret government lab before breaking free and causing havoc. Meanwhile McKenna is put on the armies loony bus. Then the hunt begins. The ragtag crew of army rejects, alongside scientist Bracket (Munn) have to save McKenna’s kid, before a new more advanced Predator arrives and changes the game entirely.
I wouldn’t go so far as to say the movie is all bad, in fact I found it quite enjoyable for the first half. A ragtag crew are always kind of fun to watch. Keegan-Michael Key and Thomas Jane are especially fun. Even some of the humour wasn’t terrible. I appreciate that they were maybe going for something different for The Predator franchise in this movie, however it all became quite generic. Most jokes miss. The CGI is unforgivable for a big budget film. Plus the action is mediocre. Topped off by just a poor story. I wouldn’t really recommend seeing this movie to anyway, it’s partly entertaining but mostly rubbish. I do however always encourage people to make their own mind up about movies. So skip to the bottom to avoid spoilers and see the conclusion.
The Hunt (For Spoilers)
So basically one Predator crashes to our planet on the run from his home-world, that’s fine, almost interesting. This is obviously the first Predator we see, who, after landing, immediately slaughters the nearest humans to him. Then wakes up in a scientist lab and again slaughters everyone he can see, except a naked Olivia Munn, before escaping. However we later learn that the reason this Predator is on the run and on Earth is because he wants to give Humans a gift. Humans are going extinct, global warming, poverty etc. Thus the Yautja want to take over Earth so they can breed Human/Predator hybrids. This is what the Predators have been doing all along, find the greatest prey so the can make hybrids. It is why they take their victims spine, which is kind of neat.
It turns out the first Predator opposes this plan and wants to help the humans fight back against predators. So he’s a good guy? What?! We spend the first half of this film with the Predator just straight up murdering humans for no reason, without any apparent attempt to reason with them and explain why he’s here, but apparently he wanted to help them protect themselves? This predator is promptly murdered by the much bigger, ridiculous 11ft Predator. Then the movie becomes about the hunt for Autism. Seriously. McKenna’s kid played by Jacob Tremblay has Autism. Which obviously allows him to understand alien languages and technology. That’s how autism works, right?
Because it’s the next step in human evolution and the Predator’s want to use it. I guess it doesn’t necessarily put Autism in a bad light but it does show a lack of understanding and tact. The whole thing seems just so pointless and poorly executed (mind the pun), as the film jumps around from one scene to the next. It feels rushed. Especially at the end when they realise they haven’t killed any of the main character’s so they basically all die at once. Looking at you Nettles (Aguilara). Don’t even mention Traeger (Brown) the stereotypical bad human, evil for no reason, because he is overseeing a top secret alien project. Plus the ending with the Predator Killer suit. It’s all awful.
The Execution (Final Thoughts)
It goes from being enjoyably bad to just plain bad. The story, although new for Predator, is generic and predictable. The action is mediocre, the gore seems tacked on. The CGI is just awful, really just terrible. The references they make to past films kind of tell you all you need to know. The characters are likeable enough. The new Predator is ridiculous. At the end of it all we are left with a jumbled up mess, that feels rushed. If you enjoy it then that’s fine, there’s nothing wrong with that. As I said I started to enjoy it but it just kept getting worse. I don’t recommend this to anyone. Let’s hope they do something better soon.
GeekVault Score:
4/10

This is a must see for Star Wars and Anime fans! Dmitry Grozov (aka Ahriman) has created an 80’s Anime inspired trailer for A New Hope and it is amazing! Truly an incredible fan tribute achieved by Dmitry, that captures key moments from the film. Emulating a true 80’s/early 90’s s visual style common with such fan favourites as: Ninja Scroll, Akira, Neo Tokoyo and Mobile Suit Gundam.
I absolutely love this! Can we have a feature length film like the trailer below Disney?

We have a load of great new trailers to dump on you today, from the new X-Men movie to Netflix’s disturbing Apostle. So if you’ve been waiting to catch up on the latest trailers, have no fear. For we are here. Geekvault’s trailer dump. So just sit back, relax and enjoy. There’s a lot here to enjoy, so get stuck in. Tell us in the comments which one was your favourite.
Robin Hood
This has been my favourite trailer for the new Robin Hood film yet. The aesthetic is really enjoyable, with that modern medieval twist, like A Knight’s Tale or King Arthur. Let’s hope it’s more like the former than the latter, which became probably the worst Guy Ritchie film. Unfortunately the best I can say about this film at the moment is about the aesthetic, and that it looks like a bit of fun. Oh well, will you be watching this?
Dark Phoenix
The first trailer for the new X-Men movie, Dark Phoenix has surfaced and it looks pretty good. Jean Grey is struggling to contain the power of the titular Dark Phoenix power and the team must help save her from doing something she regrets. McAvoy and Fassbender are back as Xavier and Magneto for possibly the last time. Though we wished they had greyed up Magnetos hair a bit. We’ve enjoyed most if not all X-Men films thus far, hopefully this will make up for Last Stand.
Galveston
This looks like it may be a surprise hit, with powerful performances that are already conveyed through this short trailer. Ben Foster is set up and Elle Fanning is caught right in the middle of it, forcing them to both go on the run with twists and turns in the middle. This is one we will definitely be checking out.
Creed II
Michael B. Jordan returns as Adonis Creed, with Sylvetser Stallone in tow returning as Rocky. For a continuation in what has become a truly iconic franchise. This time it’s about more than just honour, it’s revenge. As Creed fights to finally overcome the death of his father. Dolph Lundgren returns as Ivan Drago with his son Victor, played by Florian Munteanu, who looks absolutely beastly. We can’t wait to watch this one.
Daredevil Season Three
This small teaser trailer for the return of Daredevil in season three has Wilson Fisk, Kingpin appear in his iconic white suit. Though no purple cravats just yet. Fans of the new Spider-Man PS4 game may even think it’s reminiscent of Mr. Negative. We also see the symbolic death of Matt Murdock, as he struggles to deal with a dual identity and is overcome by the Daredevil. Let’s hope this is as good as if not even better than season 2.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald
With each trailer we get more and more excited for the Fantastic Beasts sequel. The first was a surprisingly great addition to the Harry Potter lore and this next one looks even better. Beware of spoilers in this trailer though as we finally learn the identity of the girl who has been running around with Ezra Miller’s Credence. Can’t wait to see Jude Law as a young Dumbledore too. We’re already booking tickets. Don’t forget to buy your wizarding supplies here.
Bumblebee
When they announced that there would be a new Transformers spinoff about the origins of Bumblebee, everyone asked who wants this? But it maybe actually looks, kind of, good? At least the best in a while, which wouldn’t certainly be hard to achieve. This in part stems from the fact that these Transformers actually look like transformers, with their blocky colourful bodies. Let’s just hope you’ll be able to see what’s happening in the fight scenes too.
Captain Marvel
The first trailer for Captain Marvel was released and it looks epic. With the success of this film combined with Wonder Woman’s we will hopefully have an influx of new super-heroine films. This looks like it will be an above average Marvel movie. Do you think this is the start of a secret invasion? Has Nick Fury been a Skrull all along? Will Captain Marvel be a Skrull? Either way who doesn’t want to see an old lady get punched? You can even get your own Marvel gear here.
Apostle
This is one nightmarish looking movie, and we appreciate Netflix for the broad scope they’re employing. From Gareth Evans who brought the world two excellent movies of The Raid, comes something far different. It looks like the Wicker Man jacked up on heroin, meets the demon spawn of Saw and Silent Hill. We can’t wait to see how twisted this turns out.
Tell us what you thought of these trailers. Anything you liked or disliked? And as always check out our awesome collection of Film & TV gear and collectables.
