Fallout is a series of post-apocalyptic role-playing video games. Originally created by Interplay Entertainment it has since been continued by Bethesda. Although the series is set during the 22nd and 23rd centuries, its atom-punk retro-futuristic setting and artwork are influenced by the post-war culture of 1950’s America. Its combination of hope for the promises of a peaceful technological future, and a lurking fear of utter nuclear annihilation.
A forerunner of the Fallout series was Wasteland, a 1988 video game; of which the Fallout series is regarded as a spiritual successor. Although the game worlds are ultimately different, the background story, locations, and characters draw many fun parallels.
