Born with one horn each, Rem and Ram were viewed as defective in the Oni community. Despised for it, they were to be killed as to protect the pride of Oni, the strongest of all the demi-humans. However, before their execution, Rem sister displayed the potential of her full power, protecting them both, shocking the Oni.
Being allowed to live, thanks to her older sister, who had an aptitude that had not been seen in a millennium among Oni kind, Rem was cast in her shadow. Unable to meet or surpass her sister in any area. However, still Rem loved her sister and accepted her place behind her and her parents.
Life changed forever one night, when the village was attacked, during which her sister’s horn was cut off by Faust. The whole village got destroyed and her parents and the other citizens were killed, except for her and Ram.
Ever since Rem’s inferiority complex deepened; due to a sense of guilt for feeling joy for her sister’s injury that night. Deciding with the utmost effort to become a replacement for her sister as an ideal servant to atone for what she had felt. But even having reached a certain level of perfection, she still has a low level of self-esteem and continues to idealize Ram.
